St. Michael’s Academy is a non-profit Christian preschool and elementary school which offers high quality, Non-Denominational Christian programs, in a family-friendly environment. We strive to firmly establish in our students a solid foundation of learning and the inspiration to become followers of Christ. Our school has made a commitment to partner with our families to help educate children in a warm and nurturing environment that will prepare them socially, academically, emotionally, and physically.
St. Michael’s Philosophy: St. Michael’s Academy provides a loving environment in which preschool, kindergarten, and elementary students can be nurtured in their cognitive, physical, emotional, social and spiritual development.
Student Ratio: St. Michael’s students have a 1:8 teacher to student ratio for preschool classes and 16 or less students in all elementary classes, averaging 10-14 students per class. This enables our teachers to know each and every student’s needs and abilities and provide them with an abundance of attention deserve.
Academic Success: Every spring St. Michael’s kindergarten and elementary students take the Iowa Standardized Tests, and our scores are representative of their high degree of learning. Our preschool students leave our program well prepared for kindergarten, most already reading.
Curriculum: Starting with our Jr. Pre-K and continuing through the elementary school, St. Michael’s relies on the A Beka curriculum for most of our core subjects. A Beka is a Christian-based curriculum that combines effective teaching strategies with a strong phonics-based foundation.
