Thank you for considering St. Michael’s Academy for your child’s kindergarten education. As the first step in his/her elementary experience, our kindergarten program is designed to instill in your child a thirst for academic excellence based on solid Christian principles. To this end, we have established an admissions process to ensure that each child admitted to our kindergarten classes is ready to learn and equipped for success.
Space in our kindergarten program is very limited. Because acceptance into our program is not guaranteed, the registration process for kindergartners is slightly different than for other grade levels. Registration for all grade levels is completed online. Completing this registration indicates that you are seeking enrollment for your rising kindergartner. We will then contact you to schedule an assessment. In addition to this, new families will be asked to submit a Preschool/Day Care Questionnaire from your child’s current teacher (if applicable).
The school administers a Kindergarten Readiness Assessment to determine student preparedness. Readiness is based on specific assessment tools, language development, basic skills observations, preschool experience and teacher recommendation, familiarity with books, puzzles, playground games, blocks and other manipulatives, ability to follow directions, and experiences with an established routine. Testing for kindergarten assesses a child’s cognitive, social, and fine motor skills. The testing date and time will be scheduled once the online registration is completed.
In order to be assessed, a child must be age five (5) by December 1 of the upcoming school year.
Currently enrolled St. Michael’s Academy families and alumni will be given order preference when considering admissions to Kindergarten.
Parents will be informed in a timely manner by the academy administration whether their child has been accepted into the St. Michael’s kindergarten program. Upon acceptance, additional fees and paperwork will be required. The first month’s tuition will be due on August 20. Failure to submit payment of these fees, tuition, and paperwork by the due dates will result in forfeiture of your child’s spot.
It is the policy of St. Michael’s Academy to ensure that each child admitted to the elementary school is ready to learn at grade level and is equipped for success.
Space in our elementary program is very limited. Registration is held online, and initial acceptance is extended to all registrants as space allows.
New elementary students will need to pass an assessment for finalized admission. The non-refundable assessment fee for new incoming elementary applicants is $75. In addition to this, new families will be asked to submit a Teacher Recommendation Form from your child’s current teacher (if applicable).
The school administers a Readiness Assessment to determine student preparedness. If, in the determination of the Admissions Committee, a child does not have the readiness skills needed for the grade to which s/he is applying, St. Michael’s Academy reserves the right to deny admittance or to recommend placement in another grade. Readiness is based on specific assessment tools, language development, basic skills observations, kindergarten and preschool experience and teacher recommendations (if applicable), familiarity with books, puzzles, playground games, class manipulatives, ability to follow directions, and experiences with an established routine. Testing assesses a child’s cognitive, social, and fine motor skills. The testing date and time will be scheduled once online registration has been completed.
