No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.
1 John 4:12

Mrs. Folsom grew up in a small town in Connecticut.   Her parents came from completely different worlds; her dad was from a village in Spain and her mom was a fearless New Yorker.  They instilled in her a love of God and the belief there were no limits to what she could accomplish in life.  This determination and desire to succeed helped her achieve many things in life.  Her faith in Jesus and belief in herself helped Mrs. Folsom stay optimistic as she fought cancer as a teenager.  She graduated from American University with a B.A., and while there, she shared her faith story on retreats to let other young adults know Jesus is walking with us, giving us the strength to persevere even in the darkest moments in life. Experiencing love and encouragement through family, friends, doctors, and strangers throughout her life showed her that the Lord is alive, working through people.

Mrs. Folsom decided to get a master’s degree in teaching from George Mason University, and received an M.Ed. as well as a Virginia state license. After graduation, she met her amazing husband, Matt, and accepted a teaching position in Fairfax, VA.  Mrs. Folsom left teaching seven years later to begin another wonderful adventure---motherhood! The Folsom family doubled between 2003 and 2005, welcoming two little loves, Andrew, and Emily!  These two miracles made their lives complete!  When the Folsom children were in Elementary School, Mrs. Folsom accepted a Kindergarten Assistant teacher position in her children’s school.  The years Mrs. Folsom has taught affirmed her desire to become a teacher who will make a positive difference in a child’s life.  Nine years later, she decided it was time to have her own class again. She accepted the second-grade teacher position at SMA.  Mrs. Folsom understands now more than ever that her purpose in life is to be an empathic, happy, and helpful person by living a life filled with joy.  She is extremely excited to continue her journey as an educator of children as a part of the passionate and faith-based teaching team at St. Michael’s academy.
